Mexican tenor Javier Camarena is one of the outstanding Mozart and bel canto specialists of his generation. He is praised for his radiant tone, his brilliant high notes, his flawless coloratura and his truthful portrayals. He regularly appears in leading roles at the world's best opera houses. Now, on 11 November, accompanied by the Gli Originali orchestra conducted by Italian opera specialist Riccardo Frizza, he makes his Pentatone debut with Signor Gaetano.

In recent seasons, he has sung Ernesto in Don Pasquale and Arturo in I Puritani, among others, at the Paris Opera. He made his long-awaited debut at the Teatro Real Madrid as Gualtiero in Bellini's Il Pirata. As part of the Met Stars Live in Concert series, he sang the New Year's Eve Gala live from the Parktheater in the Kurhaus Göggingen, Augsburg, together with Angel Blue, Pretty Yende and Matthew Polenzani. Camarena made his debut at the Palacio de Bellas Artes in Mexico City in 2004. In 2007 he became a member of the ensemble of the Zurich Opera House. Four years later he made his debut at the Metropolitan Opera. In 2021, Javier Camarena was named "Singer of the Year" at the International Opera Awards.
