The internationally renowned Israeli conductor Ariel Zuckermann had already been elected chief conductor of the tradition-rich Georgisches Kammerorchester Ingolstadt from 2007 to 2011, to which he returned as artistic director in 2021. In addition, Zuckermann has been music director of the Israel Chamber Orchestra since the 2015/2016 season and is now one of the most sought-after conductors of his generation.

Das Georgische Kammerorchester was founded in 1964 in Tbilisi/Georgia as the Georgian State Chamber Orchestra. Since moving to Germany in 1990, the orchestra has been based in Ingolstadt. In the meantime, with the support of the City of Ingolstadt, AUDI AG and Sparkasse Ingolstadt, the former exile orchestra has developed into an integral part of regional and supra-regional cultural life. Having arrived in Bavaria, the orchestra has retained its character and stages works with a Georgian and Eastern European influence alongside standard classical concert repertoire and modern compositions.
