Palazzetto Bru Zane wins OPER! AWARD as "Best Benefactor"
The first OPER! AWARDS ceremony was festively celebrated last Saturday, September 21, 2019, at the Konzerthaus in Berlin. Palazzetto Bru Zane received the "Best Benefactor" award for its commitment to the discovery and rediscovery of French music in the long 19th century (1780–1920). The Palazzetto Bru Zane was delighted to receive the award especially as the presentation took place at a symbolic juncture: at exactly the same time, the decennial anniversary of Palazzetto Bru Zane was also being celebrated in Venice.
"What impact can a single individual have? A lot, it turns out, when you look at and, more importantly, listen to the results that have been achieved thanks to the endowment of the go-getting Nicole Bru. In unique richness, the Palazzetto's busy staff dig through the archives and discover true gems of musical compositions, which are then published in exemplary, book-sized CD editions. That kind of commitment is rare these days – and thus most definitely deserving our prize" stated the jury as the reason behind the award. A total of 20 awards were handed out as part of the OPER! AWARDS.
On October 7, the festive "Gala des 10 ans" will take place at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris. Soloists including Rodolphe Briand, Emmanuel Ceysson, Tassis Christoyannis, Cyrille Dubois, Véronique Gens, Edgaras Montvidas, Lara Neumann and Olivier Py together with the Orchestre de chambre de Paris and the Choeur du concert spirituel under the baton of Hervé Niquet will present rediscoveries of Saint-Saëns, Gounod, Hervé, Godard, Offenbach, Lemoyne, Halévy, Méhul and Audran.
