Although Johann Sebastian Bach’s life never took him to Stuttgart, his music is firmly rooted in the state capital of Baden-Württemberg. The ‘Stuttgart Bach style’ is now a firm favourite with specialist audiences. This is due in particular to the tradition-steeped Stuttgart International Bach Academy. Since 1981, it has been keeping the musical heritage of Johann Sebastian Bach, his contemporaries, predecessors and successors alive through events and education, training and research. Diverse concert formats, innovative music education and the digital offer of podcasts and concert streams make the International Bach Academy Stuttgart one of the most important centres for the cultivation of Bach.
With ‘VISION.BACH — Understanding life with Bach’, the Internationale Bachakademie Stuttgart has embarked on a large-scale cantata project. The original ensemble of the Gaechinger Cantorey under Hans-Christoph Rademann performed Johann Sebastian Bach’s first Leipzig cantata cycle in its entirety in the 2023/2024 season. Exactly 300 years after its creation, the sixty cantatas were performed in 23 concerts in churches and concert halls in the Stuttgart region as well as at prominent festivals. The recordings of the cantatas will be released in a ten-part CD edition on the Hänssler Classic label until 2026. Ophelia’s Culture PR developed a social media presence for the project to promote supra-regional visibility. We also support the Stuttgart International Bach Academy with long-term strategic advice, classic PR and press work.
