Passionate music-making and an unbroken enthusiasm for the quest for the unknown are the hallmarks of Concerto Köln. The ensemble, with its unmistakable sound, is one of the leading groups in the field of historical performance practice. Deeply rooted in the musical life of Cologne, while also regularly performing in the musical capitals of the world and at renowned festivals, Concerto Köln stands for outstanding interpretations of early music.
The ensemble’s repertoire includes not only baroque but also early classical works. At its core is the authentic approach to the sound of the era in which the works were created. This passion for historical sound is also reflected in the long-standing and successful collaboration of the ensemble with its honorary conductor Kent Nagano and violinist Shunske Sato. As Wagner Readings, the search for a historically informed approach to Richard Wagner’s Ring des Nibelungen caused an international sensation. In this context, Concerto Köln has also engaged with the works of Beethoven to Bruckner in their historical context. The realization of the Ring is now being continued in collaboration with the Dresden Festival Orchestra under the title The Wagner Cycles as part of the Dresden Music Festival.
The 40th anniversary of Concerto Köln in 2025 will be celebrated under the hashtag #wecelebrate.
Since 2004, Ophelias Culture PR has supported the Cologne-based ensemble. This includes press work for international tours, album promotions for releases, as well as press invitations and interview acquisitions for innovative projects. In recent years, we have increasingly advised the ensemble on strategic developments and supported them in digital communication across social media and their website.
