Bayreuth Baroque Opera Festival

Since its founding, the young Bayreuth Baroque Opera Festival has quickly established itself as a key player on the international festival scene. At its heart is the world’s most beautiful Baroque theatre, the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Margravial Opera House in Bayreuth. Each year, a fully staged production of a forgotten Baroque opera is presented here – featuring top-tier vocalists and directed by Artistic Director Max Emanuel Cencic.

Other Baroque landmarks in and around Bayreuth, including the Schlosskirche, the Sonnentempel in der Eremitage, and the church and district of St. Georgen, are also integrated into the festival’s program of exquisite concerts. Thanks to TV broadcasts and streaming, Bayreuth Baroque now reaches a global audience in the millions and was named “Festival of the Year” in 2024. The 2025 edition is dedicated to Venetian opera, with a new production of Francesco Cavalli’s Pompeo Magno.

Ophelias Culture PR has been responsible for the festival’s entire PR and marketing strategy from the beginning – and has successfully implemented it. Since 2020, we’ve helped raise the festival’s international media profile and built it into a strong, recognizable brand. As of 2024, we also oversee editorial content for the festival’s social media channels. Our long-term storytelling approach plays a key role in shaping the evolving identity of Bayreuth Baroque – ensuring its unique blend of history and musical excellence continues to resonate into the future.
