Bauhaus and Music – a Connection Rarely Made. And yet, the very first guest event at the Weimar Bauhaus in 1919 was dedicated to music, followed by numerous musical performances. When the school opened its doors to an interested public for the first time during its 1923 exhibition, music again played a prominent role: composers such as Igor Stravinsky, Paul Hindemith, and Ferruccio Busoni were in Weimar that year to present their works at the opening of the exhibition during the five-day Bauhaus Week.
Since 2021, the Bauhaus-Archiv / Museum für Gestaltung has been exploring the relationship between Bauhaus and music through the interdisciplinary research project bauhaus music.
In 2023, Ophelias Culture PR supported the launch of the bauhaus music festival. In 2025, the agency is advising the Bauhaus-Archiv strategically, and will also handle international press relations for musikfest berlin 2025, which will feature the world premiere of Marc Blitzstein’s cubist opera Parabola and Circula in a concert performance at the Philharmonie Berlin.
