Basel Sin­foni­etta is a sym­phon­ic orches­tra spe­cial­iz­ing in con­tem­por­ary music – mak­ing it a unique ensemble world­wide. Driv­en by the goal of per­form­ing music that is in tune with the times, Basel Sin­foni­etta has been break­ing clas­sic­al con­cert con­ven­tions since its found­ing in 1980, explor­ing vari­ous genres and cul­tures in its pro­grams. The Basel-based ensemble col­lab­or­ates with lead­ing com­posers of today. Numer­ous works have been com­mis­sioned, and since its found­ing, more than 240 world premi­eres and many Swiss premi­eres have been presen­ted.

As a self-gov­ern­ing orches­tra, all musi­cians con­trib­ute to the real­iz­a­tion of excep­tion­al pro­grams that have no place in the reg­u­lar cul­tur­al scene. The Prin­cip­al Con­duct­or of Basel Sin­foni­etta is Tit­us Engel.

Increas­ingly, the orches­tra is also per­form­ing inter­na­tion­ally, in addi­tion to its six sub­scrip­tion con­certs, includ­ing at the NOW! Fest­iv­al in Essen and the Cologne Phil­har­monie in the ongo­ing sea­son. Recently, Basel Sin­foni­etta has been a guest at ACHT BRÜCK­EN Fest­iv­al in Cologne, the Inter­na­tion­al Music Fest­iv­al Ham­burg, the Musica Fest­iv­al in Stras­bourg, and the Warsaw Autumn Fest­iv­al.

In 2020, Opheli­a’s PR began sup­port­ing Basel Sin­foni­etta in devel­op­ing an inter­na­tion­al PR strategy and took over region­al press work. Since 2023, we have been respons­ible for all com­mu­nic­a­tions and pub­lic rela­tions – from tra­di­tion­al press work to digit­al cam­paigns and edit­or­i­al man­age­ment of the web­site and bro­chures. We focus stra­tegic­ally on dir­ect mar­ket­ing strategies to increase region­al con­cert attend­ance. In addi­tion to media rela­tions, we devel­op cre­at­ive PR con­cepts for album releases and spe­cial pro­jects.
