Royal Opera of Wallonia-Liège
As one of Belgium’s three royal opera houses, the Opéra Royal de Wallonie-Liège is one of the country’s most important cultural institutions. Founded in 1820 by the citizenry, the Opéra Royal de Wallonie-Liège has a longer tradition than the Belgian monarchy. Today, it is a modern opera house with regular online broadcasts, realised by Culturebox and medici.tv, among others, which are received worldwide. The current director of the house is Stefano Pace, and Giampaolo Bisanti has been the chief conductor since 2022.
The 2026/27 season, under the motto „Powers, Desires“, connects two inseparable forces that shape the history of opera as much as human passions: power and desire. Alongside repertoire pieces such as Verdi’s Macbeth and Puccini’s Turandot new productions like Smetana’s also come Kiss and Strauss‘ Capriccio and with Zombie Opera by Andrea Battistoni, even a contemporary production on stage.
Ophelias Culture PR has been supporting Opéra Liège with cross-regional press relations in German-speaking countries for many years. Classic press work and the organisation of press trips help to increase the opera house’s profile in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.
