Halle Opera House
The Halle Opera House is one of the established opera houses in Germany. Since the 2021/22 season, Director Walter Sutcliffe has been shaping the artistic profile of the venue. In addition to maintaining the repertoire, lesser-known and rediscovered operatic rarities are regularly featured in the programme.
A central project of the 2025/26 season is the new production of Franz Schreker’s opera The Music Box and the Princess, which premieres on 11 April 2026. The work, created between 1908 and 1912, combines fairytale elements with a multi-layered, sensually charged musical language.
The musical direction is by General Music Director Fabrice Bollon, and the direction is by Nele Lindemann. The Staatskapelle Halle performs, supported by the opera chorus and extra chorus of the Halle Opera. The main roles include Thomas Weinhappel, Franziska Krötenheerdt, and Chulhyun Kim.
With this production, Oper Halle continues its artistic direction of making rarely performed works accessible to today’s audiences, alongside the repertoire.
In the 2025/26 season, Ophelias Culture PR will manage the national press relations for this production and support Oper Halle in communicating its repositioning and current profile.
