Michael Schöch
Michael Schöch moves between piano and organ with equal virtuosity. He is a multiple prizewinner of significant competitions and has received scholarships from organisations including the DAAD and the Richard Wagner Scholarship Foundation. Engagements have taken him to renowned concert halls such as the Berliner Philharmonie, the Wiener Konzerthaus, the Gewandhaus Leipzig, and the Semperoper Dresden, among others. From 2025, he will also take over the artistic direction of the Paul Hofhaimer Competition in Innsbruck. Numerous CD productions and radio recordings document his artistic range: most recently, a recording of Johannes Brahms’s Clarinet Sonatas and Clarinet Trio with Robert Oberaigner was released in 2018 (MDG), followed by a CD in 2019 featuring works and arrangements by Richard Strauss and Richard Wagner for cello and piano (OehmsClassics).
On his new album Max Reger, inspired by J.S. Bach He explores the transcription of significant organ works for the piano. In doing so, he bridges two fascinating musical personalities: Johann Sebastian Bach and Max Reger.
