Listening closely

listening closely is a chamber music festival that puts the art of listening at its centre. Founded by the internationally renowned composer Thomas Larcher, it connects musical tradition with contemporary innovation and creates space for discoveries.

From 1 to 10 May 2026, the festival in Wattens, Innsbruck and, for the first time, also in Schwaz will be dedicating itself to 20th-century music with eight concerts featuring works by Tōru Takemitsu, Arvo Pärt, Ernst Schulhoff and Olivier Messiaen – with a particular focus on composers of a new spirituality. Two concerts will be performed by ensembles from the Tyrolean State Conservatoire as part of education projects.

Ophelia’s Culture PR contributes to a better international perception of “listening closely” through supra-regional press work.
