Haydneum
Founded in 2021, the Haydneum Foundation aims to make previously unknown music from Hungary accessible to a wider audience through research, sheet music publications, concerts, and performances. The foundation’s focus is on rediscovering, publishing, and disseminating repertoire from the Baroque, Viennese Classicism, and early Romantic periods, thus from the period approximately between 1630 and 1820.
In addition to the foundation’s namesakes, Joseph and Michael Haydn, the repertoire also includes works by composers such as Gregor Joseph Werner, Johann Sigismund Kusser and Anton Zimmermann. The Haydneum, with its artistic director Görgy Vashegyi, the Orfeo Orchestra and the Purcell Choir, organises concert series and festivals throughout the year. These include the Autumn Festival and that Festival of Sacred Music in Budapest as well as the Eszterháza Festival in Fertöd Castle near the Austrian border.
Ophelia’s Culture PR supports the Haydneum with classic press relations for the institution, as well as organising press trips to its festivals. The aim of our commitment is to increase the festival’s profile both internationally and in German-speaking regions. Together with the foundation, we are working on the internationally recognised perception of the Haydneum brand.
