Freiburg Baroque Orchestra
For nearly four decades, the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra (FBO) has been one of the leading ensembles in historically informed performance practice. Led by its concertmasters Cecilia Bernardini and Gottfried von der Goltz, the orchestra combines chamber-musical precision, scholarly curiosity, and collective responsibility. A broad stylistic range from the early Baroque to the present day, as well as a curiosity for both well-known and lesser-known repertoire, characterise the work of the ensemble, which was founded in 1987 by graduates of the Freiburg University of Music.
With around 100 concerts annually, the FBO performs on the most important stages and festivals in the world, including the Salzburg Festival and the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence. The ensemble has significant artistic partnerships, including with Kristian Bezuidenhout as Principal Guest Director, and Pablo Heras-Casado and Sir Simon Rattle. The FBO organises its own subscription series in Freiburg, Stuttgart and Berlin. Its multi-award-winning discography comprises over 130 recordings.
From 2025, Ophelias Culture PR will comprehensively support FBO in press and public relations, album promotion for releases, and PR strategies and digital communication, to strengthen the ensemble’s visibility and profile.
