Bayreuth Baroque Opera Festival
Since its inception, the still-young Bayreuth Baroque Opera Festival has quickly established itself as a permanent fixture in the international festival landscape. The centrepiece is the most beautiful Baroque theatre in the world, the Margravial Opera House Bayreuth, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here, a new staged production of a forgotten Baroque opera is presented annually – with excellent vocal stars and under the direction of Artistic Director Max Emanuel Cencic.
However, other baroque locations in Bayreuth, such as the Castle Church, the Sun Temple in the Eremitage outside the city, as well as St. George’s Church and the district of the same name, are also included in the festival programme with its exquisite concerts. Thanks to TV broadcasts and streams, Bayreuth Baroque now reaches an audience of millions and was named „Festival of the Year“ in 2024. The 2025 festival edition is dedicated to Venetian opera: Francesco Cavalli’s „Pompeo Magno“.
Ophelia’s Culture PR has been responsible for the entire PR and marketing strategy for the festival’s communication from the outset and is successfully implementing it. Since 2020, the festival and its opera productions have been made visible in the international media and established as a strong brand. Since 2024, we have also been responsible for the editorial management of the social media presence. Long-term storytelling contributes significantly to the further development of the Bayreuth Baroque brand, in order to make the unique connection between history and musical excellence an experience for the future.
