Bayreuth Baroque Opera Festival
Since its inception, the still-young Bayreuth Baroque Opera Festival has quickly established itself as a permanent fixture in the international festival landscape. The centrepiece is the most beautiful Baroque theatre in the world, the Margravial Opera House Bayreuth, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here, a new staged production of a forgotten Baroque opera is presented annually – with excellent vocal stars and under the direction of Artistic Director Max Emanuel Cencic.
However, other Baroque sites in Bayreuth, such as the Castle Church, the Sun Temple in the Hermitage outside the city, as well as St. George’s Church and the district of the same name, are also included in the festival programme with its exquisite concerts. Thanks to TV broadcasts and streams, Bayreuth Baroque now reaches an audience of millions and was named „Festival of the Year“ in 2024. At the centre of the 2026 festival edition is George Frideric Handel’s Floridante.
From the outset, Ophelia’s Culture PR has been responsible for the entire PR and marketing strategy for the festival’s communication and has successfully implemented it. Since 2020, it has been possible to make the festival and its opera productions visible in the international media and to establish it as a strong brand. Long-term storytelling contributes significantly to the further development of the Bayreuth Baroque brand, making the unique connection between history and musical excellence an experience for the future as well.
