As Switzerland’s largest three-part theatre, Theat­er Basel is one of the most import­ant cul­tur­al insti­tu­tions with an inter­na­tion­al repu­ta­tion. Under the artist­ic dir­ec­tion of Bene­dikt von Peter (Gen­er­al Dir­ect­or and Opera), Anja Dirks (Dir­ect­or of Drama & Dram­at­urgy), and Tilman O’Donnell (Deputy Artist­ic Dir­ect­or, Cho­reo­graphy, Dance, Video & Stage Design), the ven­ue presents a diverse and ambi­tious pro­gramme.

The 2024/25 sea­son presen­ted numer­ous high­lights, includ­ing a new „Ring“ for Basel, which saw Richard Wagner’s monu­ment­al opera cycle return to Theat­er Basel after more than 40 years. In drama, the two-week hap­pen­ing „Ode to Youth Prone to Viol­ence“ enriched the pro­gramme.
