Bayreuth Baroque2021 says goodbye with an announcement for 2022

The focus of Bayreuth Baroque in 2022 will be a new production of Leonardo Vinci's master opera "Alessandro nell'Indie" directed by Max Emanuel Cencic. The premiere on September 8, 2022 at the Margravial Opera House in Bayreuth will mark the first time in nearly 300 years that Vinci's opera about Alexander the Great's Indian campaign can be experienced in its entirety.

Ten years after the acclaimed production of Vinci's "Artaserse," which was shown in Vienna, Paris, Versailles, Nancy, Cologne, and elsewhere, Bayreuth Baroque now presents a production of "Alessandro nell'Indie" with an all-male cast. Once again Franco Fagioli and Bruno de Sá are in the cast.
The Bayreuth Baroque Opera Festival will take place in 2022 from September 8 to 25.

This year's edition came to an end last Sunday. From September 1 to 12, Artistic Director Max Emanuel Cencic and international stars of the baroque scene such as Jakub Jozef Orlinski, Julia Lezhneva, Dorothee Oberlinger, Simone Kermes, Franco Fagioli, Yuriy Mynenko, Bruno de Sá and many others presented a festival program full of highlights in Bayreuth. The focus was on the revival of Porpora's "Carlo il Calvo" directed by Max Emanuel Cencic and a concert performance of "Polifemo" by the Neapolitan composer. A special highlight was the public awarding of the Honorary Prize of the Jury of the German Record Critics’ Award to Max Emanuel Cencic for his artistic work to date by music critic Manuel Brug.

In addition to the success on site, the media response has also been great. For all those who could not be there, mezzo.tv, BR-Klassik and Facebook livestreams offered - and still offer - the opportunity to experience the festival anywhere in the world, even at home. Several broadcasts, e.g. on ARTE, BR Alpha, BR-Mediathek and mezzo.tv are still planned.
