About us

We are successful when we make you successful

Ophelias is a renowned communications agency specialising in cultural professionals, festivals and institutions in the field of classical music and the performing arts. For over 20 years, we have been offering our diverse clients comprehensive PR and communication concepts. Our services include the implementation, realisation, controlling and documentation of PR measures. The first step towards successful and sustainable PR is to develop the right strategy. That’s why we work closely with our clients to define the goals of their PR and corporate communications.

Our commitment is holistic. We emphasise strategic PR consulting, traditional press relations and digital communication. We also advise our clients on all aspects of marketing, social media, content management and market positioning. Our services can be freely selected from various modules depending on requirements, ranging from editorial support for brochures, websites and newsletters to project management for press events.

National and international press relations remain a central component of our work. We have an extensive international network of leading media, journalists and opinion leaders and maintain a close dialogue with key journalists.

Our team consists of music, theatre and literature scholars who are supported by a qualified network of freelancers from various trades. This enables us to communicate in a value-orientated and competent manner, always keeping an eye on the latest developments and trends in art and culture.

At Ophelias Culture PR, we prioritise quality, professionalism and creativity. We pride ourselves on offering our clients customised solutions and helping them to increase their visibility and reputation in the arts and culture scene.

Ferdi Beilhardt

Spätromantik | Oper | PR-Manager

I first encountered Mahler’s Song of the Earth in music class at secondary school. It opened up a whole new world for me. After graduating from high school, I studied philosophy, literature and cultural studies in Munich, with a particular focus on late Romanticism and early Modernism.

I have been part of Ophelias Culture PR since 2021 – initially as an intern, now as a PR manager. Here, I can combine my enthusiasm for music with creative public relations work: interacting with journalists and cultural professionals or developing tailor-made PR concepts. Regular visits to concerts and operas are not only part of the job, but also a real privilege.

Ophelias’ portfolio, which includes early music and baroque opera, has particularly broadened my horizons. I have encountered styles and eras that were largely unknown to me before and have changed my perspective on music once again. It is fascinating how these historical soundscapes are being brought back to life in the present day – and how surprising connections between different musical traditions can be discovered time and again.

Early Music | Contemporary | PR Manager

Since 2019, I have been managing PR projects at Ophelias Culture PR, including Ensemble Modern, Basel Sinfonietta, Innsbruck Festival of Early Music, Bayreuth Baroque Festival, and the activities of Palazzetto Bru Zane. My expertise lies in musicology—especially music before 1600 as well as from the modern era to the present day.

This dual perspective shapes my work, from writing program notes and press releases to developing communication strategies for premieres, repertoire rarities, and interdisciplinary formats. My background in economics supports my strategic foresight, particularly in cultural marketing, brand development, and audience targeting.

Musically rooted in boys’ choir and early violin lessons, a performance of Mahler’s Third Symphony was a formative experience. A pivotal moment came with attending the German premiere of Philip Glass’s the CIVIL warS—an event that profoundly expanded my view of music as a socially impactful art form.

After completing my musicology studies with a minor in economics, I joined Ophelias Culture PR as a trainee in 2018. I have stayed on because of the rich content, the variety of tasks, and the joy of smart cultural communication.

Classical music and culture are my passions. Communicating this is a matter close to my heart. It was already important to me as a music dramaturge at various German theatres and later as a product manager in the record industry. So it was only a small step to set up my own communications agency, as I did in the millennium year 2000. It is important to me to work in a small team of specialised colleagues on an equal footing. Only in this way is it possible for me as a manager to be involved in each of our projects with advice and ideas.

My private life also revolves around culture: in addition to the theatre, concert halls and opera houses, I find art exhibitions extremely relaxing. I studied musicology, theatre studies and history at the Freie Universität Berlin and Ludwig-Maximilians Universität. Even today, it helps me a lot to look at current affairs and conditions from a historical perspective.
