The name Concerto Köln stands for 30 years of exploratory spirit, many highly praised CD recordings and reams of the most important classical music prices like “Midem Classical Award”, “Grammy” or “Diapason d’Or”. The orchestra has become an indispensable discoverer and advocate especially for almost forgotten musical treasures.
As the cultural ambassador of the Early-Music-city of Cologne Concerto Köln, which is democratically guided by the concertmaster, is greeted with rapturous applause. Also for bigger productions the ensemble is highly sought-after and works together with internationally renowned conductors like Ivor Bolton, Daniel Harding or René Jacobs and singers like Cecilia Bartoli and Philippe Jaroussky.
The most recent project is “Wagner Readings”: in a collaboration with Kent Nagano and the Cologne University, Richard Wagner's “Ring of the Nibelung” will be analyzed from an early music perspective and examined for the first time in historically-informed performance practice.
Ophelias Culture PR has overseen the PR for the ensemble and its CD recordings since 2008.
