Klassik am Odeonsplatz
Within the last 10 years, Klassik am Odeonsplatz has developed into the greatest classical open-air experience in Munich with broad international approval. Since its foundation in the millennium year 2000 and since 2002 in regular terms, two of Munich's star orchestras perform together with internationally renowned classical artists at one of the most beautiful sites in Europe one weekend in July. In 2012 Klassik am Odeonsplatz will be hosting Sol Gabetta, one of the most exciting and multi-facetted cello virtuosos of her generation, together with the Münchner Philharmoniker conducted by Juraj Valcuha on 7 July. On 8 July the bass-baritone Erwin Schrott will be performing with the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks under the baton of Andris Nelsons. Klassik am Odeonsplatz is organized by the BR and the regional capital Munich.
